Here at Arborealis, we specialize in sourcing, procuring, and planting all plants to your desired specification in the private and industrial sectors. We focus on recommending the right plants in the right place to enhance the landscape throughout the seasons. Our expertise covers a wide range of planting plans, incorporating trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, bedding plants, and bulbs, to name but a few. Please be advised we are professional plantsmen and do not carry out any form of hard landscaping, such as slabbing, concrete, etc. With 20 years of experience, our science is making a desired area aesthetically pleasing.

Sourcing & Planting of Specimen Plants

We offer professional sourcing and planting services for a variety of specimen plants, including:

Trees

There are a multitude of considerations when choosing a tree or trees for either a garden or landscaping project. Things to consider are height (in maturity,) spread, size and maintenance if any. The location or positioning is of paramount importance particularly in close proximity to your home or other buildings as distance dictates root system safety in regards to causing structural damage. The correct choice of tree will also be dictated by its characteristics i.e. flowers, berries, fruit, ornamental bark, deciduous, evergreen, autumnal colour, some of which depending on species will have a combination of all or some of these characteristics. Advising on all of these factors is where Arborealis excel.

Shrubs

Though generally smaller, the same considerations and factors for trees are relevant to shrubs. They can be planted in closer proximity in a manner which enhances the beauty of, for example, a border or bed. They can dominate as specimen plants or be sparse in order to perhaps augment with herbaceous perennials. Once again our experience will advise options.

Hedging solutions

There are many choices and considerations involved when selecting the right hedging plant depending on your requirements. Many people will choose evergreens as they provide all round privacy, Leylandii cypress as an example which in most cases is one of the most expensive to maintain! To this end, there are other evergreen choices available that require minimal maintenance, and of course deciduous, Beech tree hedging as an example.

Perennials

Perennials are plants which either die back or are pruned back in winter that will produce new growth from the root ball the following season. There are too many to mention however they are normally low growing and flower through different times in the seasons. Again they augment your specimen trees and shrubs.

Annuals & bedding plants

The main factor to consider is that an annual will flower once in the seasons and generally not regenerate. There are some which will survive if taken in doors for planting out the following year. Dahlias, begonias and geraniums as an example however most will only survive one season. Arborealis create beautiful window boxes and baskets with a combination of these plants.

Arborealis is a small family business with over 20 years of experience planting specimen plants in the private and business sectors throughout central Scotland. We are fully qualified horticulturists with a flair for creating beautiful spaces, utilizing our experience in soft landscaping. We specialize in all aspects of planting, including borders and hanging baskets, some of which may be seasonal.

Sourcing, planting, of specimen plants including Trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals & bulbs. We specialize in hedging, which if not carefully selected may in some cases become a costly maintenance.
We also specialize in hanging baskets, window boxes which is generally seasonal from May through July. 
Arborealis won first prize (Silver Spade Award) in the ‘Let Glasgow Flourish’ category in 2023 competing on behalf of Meze Meze restaurant with some 78 entrants

A horticultural plantsman is a person who can identify, name, know all the characteristics of a plant & where & when it’s best suited. Many plants may only have one property ie some shrubs are evergreen or not, may flower or not, may produce berries in late summer, may turn glorious colours in autumn or not. Some shrubs have all these characteristics. My job is to know as much as possible about varying plants, recommend, source, precise & plant on behalf of a customer.
